Which TixFree pack should I buy?
TixFree for dogs is sold by body weight. Weigh your dog first. An easy way: stand on a bathroom scale holding your dog, then take away your own weight. Then pick the pack that matches:
- Small dogs: 2-10kg
- Medium dogs: 10-20kg
- Medium to large dogs: 20-40kg
- Very large dogs: over 40kg
- Cats: use only the TixFree cat pack (for adult cats over 1kg).
Most packs have 3 pipettes, one for each month, so one pack lasts about three months. If your dog is between two sizes, ask your vet which one to use.
How to apply TixFree
- Open one pipette.
- Part the fur between the shoulder blades, so you can see the skin.
- Squeeze the whole pipette onto the skin in one spot. This is a place your pet cannot lick.
- Follow the pack’s directions on bathing your pet before and after.
- Repeat every 4 weeks. Set a reminder on your phone.
TixFree vs NexGard vs Bravecto
- [TixFree](/product-category/brands/tixfree/): drops on the skin, once a month. Made in Sri Lanka. The lowest cost per month, and there is a version for cats.
- [NexGard](/product-category/brands/nexgard/): a beef-flavoured chew, once a month. Good for dogs that are hard to hold still. Dogs only.
- [Bravecto](/product-category/brands/bravecto/): a chew that lasts up to 12 weeks, so you give fewer doses. Dogs only.
All three work well when you use them on time, every month, all year. In Sri Lanka ticks are active in every season. See our NexGard price and dose guide and our guide to ticks and tick fever in dogs.
Frequently asked questions
How much is TixFree in Sri Lanka?
The price depends on your dog’s weight. Small-dog packs cost the least and big-dog packs cost the most. The table above shows the current Bark.lk price of every TixFree pack.
How often should I use TixFree?
Once every 4 weeks. Put it on the same date each month so you do not forget.
Can I use TixFree on my puppy?
Ask your vet first for young puppies. Always weigh the puppy and use the pack for its weight.
Is TixFree made in Sri Lanka?
Yes. TixFree is made locally in an ISO 9001:2015 certified laboratory.
My dog still has ticks after TixFree. What should I do?
Remove ticks you can see with a tick remover, clean your dog’s bed and check the garden. Keep using TixFree every month. If your dog is weak, stops eating or has pale gums, see a vet the same day, as this can be tick fever.
