Where to Buy Pet Name Tags in Sri Lanka (2026 Guide)

A name tag is the quickest way for a stranger to get a lost dog or cat home. In Sri Lanka you can find basic tags at some pet shops and vet clinics, but most do not personalise them on the spot. The easiest option is to order a custom tag online and have it delivered: you choose the design, type your pet’s name and your phone number, and it is made for you.

The quick answer

You can buy custom pet name tags online from Bark.lk, a Kandy-based pet shop that makes tags to order and delivers across Sri Lanka in 2–7 working days. Names can be in English or Sinhala.

Types of pet name tags

• Printed tags - full-colour designs printed onto rust-proof aluminium. 35 designs, from Rs. 990 (normal size, 38 × 25 mm) or Rs. 1,190 (extra size for big dogs, 51 × 37 mm). See printed pet tags.
• Laser engraved tags - your pet’s name and number cut into a metal tag so it never rubs off. Rs. 1,290 for the bone-shaped dog tag or the small cat tag. See laser engraved tags.
• QR / NFC smart tags - whoever finds your pet scans the tag with a phone to reach you, and you can update your details any time. Rs. 1,490. See the BARK QR NFC tag.
• Name collars - your dog’s name and number on a patch on the collar itself, from Rs. 1,450. See custom name collars.

What to put on a pet name tag

• A phone number you always answer - this matters more than the name.
• Your pet’s name (optional - some owners leave it off).
• A second number, or a short note such as “Needs medicine”, if there is space.

How to choose

Choose a printed tag if you want colour and a fun design, a laser engraved tag if you want the most durable lettering, and a smart QR tag if you want finders to reach you even after you change your number. Many owners pair a tag with a name collar so their dog is identifiable at a glance. For a side-by-side comparison read laser engraved vs printed pet tags.
